Y11 ATAR S2 Written 4
Welcome to our final written, before exams. This will be done in class in Week 4.
You will be asked to answer one question out of three, with reference to a film called The Cove (it's ok ClickView, so you'll need to sign in to watch it). Watch it with a critical eye (and take notes!) for the following:
how representations are constructed to challenge audience interpretations and values - some starting resources here.
how ideology influences interpretations of media work - some starting resources here.
how persuasive techniques are used to make social or political comment - some starting resources here.
I have created a group chat on Microsoft Teams, so you can discuss the film with each other, as well as your ideas for answering questions. I'll chip in to the conversation and try and head you in the right direction.
Writing Tips:
Scaffolding an argument in academic writing: identify, describe, explain, analyse, evaluate.
Consider codes and conventions, preferred reading, resistant readings.
Intended audience vs other audiences.
They Say, I Say.
Reference to communication Theories.
If you think you’ve finished, read your work, keep thinking, write more. During this process, it might be good to think about any other texts you can compare and contrast with.
THIS PAGE has very important writing tips, and you should return to it prior to every written task.
